Kenny Caldwell is a Director at Caldwell Ritchie Berry.

He founded Caldwell Solicitors in 2017 (now Caldwell Ritchie Berry) as one of the very few genuinely specialist construction law legal practices in Northern Ireland at the time. 

Kenny has a wide and extensive range of practical, commercial and legal experience in areas such as corporate & commercial, construction, engineering, IT and energy sectors. Kenny spent his formative years working in his family’s steelwork, ducting and ventilation business in Co. Monaghan before embarking on his training as a solicitor in the Dublin office of an international law firm. After qualification, he later moved to Belfast and spent several years working as part of the construction, projects and procurement team with one of Northern Ireland’s leading law firms. Kenny later gained extensive industry experience as a consultant with a specialist construction and procurement practice.  

Working extensively with a range of public and private sector clients, Kenny regularly advises employers, developers, contractors, consultants, funders and private individuals in relation to the construction of infrastructure, mixed use, commercial and residential development schemes in Ireland, Northern Ireland, the UK and further afield. Kenny is particularly adept in the provision of specialised legal and advisory services in the tech infrastructure and data centre industries having assisted clients globally throughout the lifecycle of data centre projects. He exerts particular expertise and competency in the specialised needs of data centre projects.

He regularly advises on the negotiation, drafting and issuing of various construction documentation including building agreements, professional team appointments and collateral agreements in relation to numerous projects of varying size and scale. Kenny has been involved in a substantial amount of adjudications, mediations, conciliations, arbitrations on numerous issues ranging from design liability, interpretation of contractual clauses, payment disputes, loss & expense matters, extension of time claims.  Kenny has also acted in adjudication enforcements both in the UK and Ireland.  

Kenny retains practising certificates in Ireland, Northern Ireland and England & Wales. He is also trained as an Adjudicator and holds an RICS DipAdj. Kenny is available for appointments to act as Adjudicator on appointment by the parties. 

A logical, practical thinker with industry awareness and a skilled legal mind, Kenny has an ability to cultivate relationships with clients and colleagues alike, thinking commercially and with a view to resolving any issue which may arise in a constructive and commercially astute manner.
